We arrived back in Tokyo in the morning after spending the night near Mt Fuji. We had hoped to see Mt Fuji but it is rarely out of the mist and we weren’t lucky that day.
Back in Tokyo we stayed in Ueno for our last night not far from the Okinawa bar from the first night. We went to the Tokyo National Museum we particularly liked the samurai armour and the room full of ornate Shoji paper screens. Outside the Museum in the park there was a Bonsai tree competition and all the entrants were on display. They were beautiful and in full bloom. Wonderful colours filled the stand.
That evening we went back to Shibuya to find the Black Sheep bar but sadly it wasn’t open. This was probably a good thing as on our last morning we had tickets for the Studio Ghibli Museum. Studio Ghibli is a famous Japanese animation house and creators of some of our favourite films, the stories often have a strong moral message and are thought provoking but simultaneously very fun. We were really excited and were not disappointed. It was the perfect ending to our trip around Japan. We will be sure to return to one day.
